While this isn’t our typical travel-related content here at Road Trips with Kids, we thought others might find this helpful too. Thus, we created this post and hope you will enjoy. These are our must have kitchen tools & baking essentials. We love using these to make our famous gingerbread cookies, snickerdoodles, macaroons, and so much more. Hope you enjoy! Comment below if you have any questions (or other comments) for me (Jude.) I’m happy to help! These make great holiday gifts for anyone you shop for who is interested in baking as well!

This is the simplest hack I have for making baking more fun. Get a bunch of teaspoons so you don't have to keep rinsing and drying the one that you have. I love that I can leave these in bags of spices that I use regularly, and that I have a bunch in a small container in the drawer so anytime I need to measure a teaspoon, I grab one, use it, and put it in the dishwasher.

This is one of my favorite kitchen tools. It's a great kitchen scale, and it folds up to an incredibly small size so it works great for our condo.

If you want to bake with little ones, a pouring shield for your kitchenaid mixer makes all the difference. It keeps things from splashing out (mostly), keeps small hands away from the mixing heads, and provides a simple guide for where to pour your flour or other ingredients.
Make sure you order the right one depending on your mixer style, I have a tilt head so that's the one here. If you have a bowl lift then switch the option in the 'style' box.

- Cuisinart SM-50GR Precision Master 5.5-Quart 12-Speed Stand Mixer with Mixing Bowl, Chef's Whisk, Flat Mixing Paddle, Dough Hook, and Splash Guard with Pour Spout$249.95 ($249.95 / Count)Buy Now
I love my KitchenAid stand mixer and I use it all the time. That said, if I were starting over I'd buy this one for half the price of the KitchenAid. Some of the cheaper mixers you might see are 3.5qt bowls and those are really small for most baking products. 5.5qt is the same as the standard KitchenAid and enough for most of your home projects.

Want to bake more and have more fun doing it? Get more sheet pans. Specifically half-sheet pans. Why they're called half sheets? I don't know, but they're the common size we all use at home. Having 6 of these makes it easy to keep baking while other things are cooling.

Pre-cut parchment sheets are just so useful. They are the right size for your half-sheet pans, lie flat on top of the pans for easy storage, and just make it so easy to bake and clean up. I love everything that King Arthur makes and these have been a constant in our kitchen!

Your oven is lying to you. This was very frustrating for me to find out after we renovated our home and purchased a great new oven, and it's always 20 degrees low. The cheapest fix? Buy one of these. $7 to actually know what the real interior temp is and make your baking projects actually work right.

I bought these for bread baking, but I use them all the time. They're great for lifting up cut cookies to get to a cookie sheet, to release baked products from parchment paper, for cleaning up a work surface after a baking project.
